FEATURED ARTIST: AUDREY KAWASAKI

THE SYNDICATE is loving Audrey Kawasaki's seductive wood canvas pieces. Her work displays dreamy, ethereal, & fragile qualities - very much reminiscent to the Spring 2012 runways in New York, Milan, Paris, and London.

Audrey Kawasaki is a Los Angeles based Japanese artist who is known for her distinctive oil paintings on wood panels of erotic, yet innocent portrayals of young girls. She received her training at Pratt Institute for two years majoring in Fine Arts, but did not finish. Since then, she has become a self made rising star in the Los Angeles art scene - being a part of and featured in more than 29 group shows, and having several solo shows throughout the decade. She also had the opportunity to design album cover art for Alice Smith's "For Lovers, Dreamers, and Me." Kawasaki's work is highly influenced by Art Nouveau and Japanese animation. She began drawing Manga inspired illustrations as a child, and then started experimenting with other mediums such as charcoal, pencil, and oil paints. Her artwork is easily recognizable-the girls she paints have a seductive, dark, and ethereal quality to them, which draws the viewer in. Her work is magnetically alluring, while displaying a sense of despair. She has always preferred drawing women, particularly nude women, which translates the beauty of the feminine form.
